On October 29th, the San Francisco Giants pulled out a tight Game 7 win over the Kansas City Royals to win the World Series. The Kansas City Royals had a tying run just 90 feet from home plate, but were unable to capitalize on their opportunity. The Giants’ World Series win gave them their third victory in just five years.
Luck or talent? Whichever it was, the Giants are quickly establishing themselves as World Series powerhouses, having now won three of the last five World Series. Meanwhile, the Kansas City Royals had their hopes crushed. Having appeared in the World Series for the first time since 1985, their road to the World Series had seemed to be somewhat of a fairy tale, an unbelievable journey.
The 2014 edition of the World Series consisted of the two teams giving and taking wins, while playing high scoring games. Five of the seven games consisted of score differentials of five or more runs. Madison Bumgarner was chosen as the MVP for his outstanding pitching efforts.
