Spirit week is a fun week that offers a chance for the students to show off how proud they are to be part of Ashland High School. To the freshmen who are new to being apart of the Ashland High School community, this an especially fun week.
Monday: Pj Day- I personally love PJ day. It gives me the chance to wear comfortable clothes to school and I don’t have to worry about getting dressed that day. Getting on the bus that morning there were a fair amount of people wearing PJ’s. When I got to school there were a lot of people participating and showing their spirit. Some of my favorites were the group a girls that all wore Giraffe PJ’s and a classmate of mine who had on two huge furry slippers with one being green and the other being blue. At lunch, me and my friend played bingo together to win points for the freshmen. We were so close to getting bingo. It was cool seeing everyone and their different PJ’s.
Tuesday: Ashland Pride Day- I personally don’t own anything Ashland, so I just wore a lot of blue. Showing up at school I immediately saw the massive sea of blue. There were a lot of people who just wore an Ashland shirt. The people who went all in really stood out. I had a friend who wore nothing but blue. There was nothing on her that was not blue or didn’t say Ashland on it. At lunch that day, it was trivia about the high school teachers and events going on around the school. I was surprised about how much I could get right.
Wednesday: Hawaiian Day- Once again I don’t own anything hawaiian so sadly I couldn't participate. There were some people who didn’t participate, but the people who did though went for it. There were a lot of different people who had on different hawaiian shirts. It was very colorful at school on Wednesday. This day at lunch it was a game of guess the song. It was super fun. I was playing against a friend to see who could get the song first.
Thursday: U.S.A Day- On this day I had a U.S.A shirt to wear along with some bandannas. There were a lot of people on Thursday who were in the American spirit. The so was a swarm of red, white and blue. I even saw people with American flag tights. I also saw someone with the American flag in her hair. At lunch there was a container filled with M&M’s and we had to guess how many M&M’s were in there. I guessed there were about 1,000 in there.
Friday: Class Color Day- Friday was a super fun day. The entire school participated in this event which made it my favorite day of the week. Everyone in the school was abuzz with excitement. At the pep rally everyone was in such high spirits and ready to show off their class pride. Congratulations to Ronan Bates and Emily Finnegan who were crowned homecoming king and queen, as well the rest of the homecoming court, including Don Jones, Kaleigh Donovan, Ari Dinerman, Maggie Campion, Finnegan Bates, and Bridget McSweeney. All the games were so fun to watch. My favorite personal was the game of tug a war. This was by far the most fun day of the week.
Overall Spirit Week was an extremely fun week. It was a great week to show class pride and school spirit. This week was full of memories that we will never forget and I can’t wait for the next one.
