8 Cool Ways to Help you Study for a Test

We have all been there before, when you are studying for a test or quiz and either can’t concentrate or just don’t want to study at all. Here are some tips to make studying easier.

Listening to instrumental music

While listening to Beyonce’s album or Twenty One Pilots is something you may really want to do while studying, try listening to soothing instrumental music in the background instead. This allows your brain to fully focus on what you're studying, and not be partly occupied with listening to lyrics.

Switch up your location

Don’t spend hours in the same room, sitting in the same spot. It will lower energy and your ability to do well on a test. According to the New York Times, if you switch your location it will increase your ability to do well on a test or quiz. This way your brain is not associating what you're studying with a certain location.

Study before you go to sleep

Looking over what you need to know before you go to bed is a great way to remember things. According to an article written by Shana Lebowitz, your brain strengthens memories while you are asleep.

Makeup a crazy story

Turning your study material into a crazy story helps the information become more meaningful to yourself. This is especially helpful when you are learning new vocab words.

Treat yourself

As you’re studying, give yourself a reward for reaching a certain goal. Maybe after reading a chapter in your History book, you check Instagram for five minutes. Whatever works for you! This a sure way to keep you motivated and get through whatever you are studying.

LOL

Studies have shown that when you laugh while studying, it will jog your memory. Making jokes to your friends about what your learning will make it incredibly easy for you to remember.

Teach Somebody

Without looking at your paper, grab a friend or parent to teach your material to. By doing this, you can see what you know on the subject and what still needs to be learned. It's a good way to focus on where you need the most work and pinpoint the facts you can’t recall while teaching the subject to someone else.

Believe in yourself

As cheesy as this sounds, this is a great way to pass a quiz or a test. By believing in yourself, you're giving yourself the confidence to do well, therefore you are more likely to pass a quiz or a test.

Studying for a quiz or test may be hard, but there are ways out there to help us make studying easier and more fun. Make sure when you're studying keep track of what study habits work for you so you can do well in the future.
