2016 has been a crazy year, and so many noteworthy events have taken place. 2016 is a year that some of us are sad to see go, while some of us are more than happy to put this year behind us and start fresh in 2017. Before we can jump into 2017 though, let’s take a moment to walk down memory lane and reflect on 2016.
A New President
After another 8 years, we will have a new man sitting in the oval office. Let's hope he has a long and successful term in office. Donald Trump’s election was certainly noteworthy, and no one could have predicted it.
Summer Olympics
For the first time ever the Olympics were held in Rio. America won this year at the Summer Olympics with at impressive 121 total metals.
Juno in Orbit Around Jupiter
In 2011 NASA sent a spacecraft to Jupiter and after five years spacecraft Juno is in orbit around Jupiter. It started to go into orbit on July 4th of this year. The purpose of Juno is to get through Jupiter's clouds and get data and pictures of Jupiter.
Pokemon Go
There is no doubt about it that Pokemon Go was the biggest game of the year. The game gets 21 million users a day. We can say that everyone this summer was out catching them all!
Finding Dory
13 years after the release of Finding Nemo comes the sequel Finding Dory. On Opening weekend the movie made 132 million dollars. The film stars returning star Ellen Degeneres playing Dory, Albert Brooks as Marlin, Hayden Rolence as Nemo and new stars in the movie, including Ed O’Neill as Hank and Kaitlin Olson as Destiny.
People We Have Lost in 2016
This year we have lost a lot of well-known people who have had a positive impact on the world. Some of these people include:
Gene Wilder
Kenny Baker
Anton Yelchin
George Kennedy
Prince
David Bowe
Alan Rickman
Nancy Reagan
Harper Lee
Muhammad Ali
Carrie Fisher
George Michael
Overall 2016 will go down in the history books as an eventful year. I can’t wait to see what 2017 has in store for us.
