Basically, this newest addition to the Star Wars saga comes right before the fourth, A New Hope. The movie details the sacrifices made by Resistance fighters to get the plans to the Death Star, so that in Episode IV an upstart noob, Luke Skywalker, could destroy it. (Seriously, Episode IV has been out for FOUR DECADES as of 2017, so that’s not much of a spoiler.)
The protagonist, Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) teams up with mustachioed Resistance captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen), a blind warrior-monk with some epic martial arts skills, and his buddy Baze Malbus (Jiang Wen). As a warning, this movie really puts the “Wars” in Star Wars, although it is only PG-13.
According to Box Office Mojo, as of January 1st, 2017, Rogue One has grossed over $700 million worldwide just over two weeks. Star War fans and newcomers alike are sure to enjoy this story about how much self-sacrifice and hope are needed in any rebellion.
